After over a year of research, writing, and collaboration, I’m excited to share that our book, Strategic DevOps is officially published and available.
This book is for everyone in a technical organization — from engineers and product managers to executives and business leaders. We focus less on what to do and more on why DevOps culture matters across disciplines. Whether you’re looking to improve collaboration, reduce organizational risk, or better understand how technology decisions drive business value, this book is designed to bridge those gaps.
🔍 What’s Inside
We start with foundational practices to help technical and non-technical teams work more effectively together. We explore the principles of trust, consistency, and operational discipline, and how these shape long-term resilience. You’ll find:
Real-world case studies (Arthur Andersen, Boeing, Volkswagen, the Challenger disaster)
Practical insights into architecture, infrastructure, and security — all presented accessibly
Light pseudocode (but no actual coding required)
To support a diverse readership, each section is tailored for different personas. We even introduce a unique GOTO-style navigation system to help readers skip ahead when topics get too technical or tangential — something I haven’t seen done in this space before.
🧠 Collaboration & Perspective
This project was a team effort:
I had the privilege of co-authoring with my father, Jay Abrams, a business appraiser who contributed a chapter on value creation and preservation.
Sean Riordan joined to bring depth in continuous integration and testing.
And I’m deeply grateful to early reviewers like Michael Atencio and Aaron Granovitz for their candid feedback and ideas.
Writing this book gave me a new appreciation for what it takes to publish — especially working across time zones, cultures, and editorial processes.
